Incarnant à la fois les écoles française et italienne du saxophone, Antonino MOLLICA est aujourd’hui un soliste dynamique et complet, ayant un répertoire très large allant de la transcription à la musique contemporaine, en passant par les musiques improvisées et la création.

Né en 1980 à Messine (Sicile) où il obtient en 2001 le Diplôme Supérieur de saxophone au Conservatoire de Musique d’Etat « A. Corelli ». Dans ce même établissement, il étudie également l’écriture, le contrepoint, la composition et l’ethnomusicologie.

Attiré par la renommée de l’Ecole Française de saxophone, il entre dans la classe de Christophe Bois à Bourges où il obtient en 2004 deux Premiers Prix de perfectionnement à l’unanimité en saxophone et musique de chambre. Admis en 2006 au Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris CNSMDP, il se perfectionne auprès de professeurs tels que Gilles Tressos, Claude Delangle, Sylvain Malezieux et Lazlo Hadady, ainsi que Alexandros Markeas, Vincent Le Quang et Patrick Moutal pour l’improvisation et la musique indienne.

En 2010, il obtient un Master en Pédagogie ainsi que le Certificat d’aptitude aux fonctions de professeur de saxophone au C.N.S.M.D. de Paris.

En juin 2011, il obtient le Prix d’Improvisation Générative mention TB au C.N.S.M.D. de Paris, ainsi que les Certificats de musique indienne, mention TB à l’unanimité.

Soucieux d’élargir l’horizon de ses expériences musicales, il a été initié à la direction d’orchestre par des musiciens tels que Daniele Carnevali, Claude Kaesmaecker et Jean-Marc Cochereau.

Lauréat d’une dizaine de concours nationaux et internationaux, Antonino MOLLICA se produit dans des festivals tels que « Festiorgue » à St Jean de Luz, « i suoni delle Dolomiti » a Madonna di Campiglio (Italie), « la mélodie européenne » à Shanghai (Chine). Ses différentes activités d’interprète l’ont amené à se produire en tant que soliste dans de nombreux pays (Belgique, Hollande, Allemagne, Espagne, Malte, Italie, Chine, Argentine), et dans des salles telles que l’Auditorium du Musée d’Orsay, le Zénith de Paris, le Théâtre grecque de Taormine ou encore la Cité de la Musique, la salle Pleyel de Paris et la Philharmonie de Paris.

Il collabore avec des orchestres tels que l’Orchestre de Paris, l’orchestre Philarmonique de Monte-Carlo, l’orchestre symphonique et lyrique de Nancy, la Symphonic Orchestra of Fullerton-California… et a joué sous la baguette de chefs tels qu’Emmanuel Krivine, Thomas Hengelbrock, Andris Poga…

Il a été soutenu à plusieurs reprises par le Ministère de la Culture, le Mécénat Musical de la Société Générale (2004), la Fondation Meyer (2009), la Fondation Roberto Cimetta…

Titulaire du Certificat d’Aptitude de professeur de saxophone, Antonino Mollica enseigne son instrument au réseau de Conservatoires « Artemuse » du Val Maubuée/Marne la Vallée et au Conservatoire du XIXème arrondissement de Paris.

Antonino Mollica joue les saxophones Henry Selmer Paris et les becs, anches et accessoires Vandoren Paris.

 

 

 

Antonino MOLLICA é un solista completo e dinamico, rappresentante allo stesso tempo delle scuole italiana e francese des sassofono. Il suo repertorio spazia oggi dal repertorio tradizionale del sassofono alla musica contemporanea e l’improvvisazione.

Dopo aver conseguito il diploma di sassofono presso il Conservatorio « A.Corelli » di Messina, si é perfezionato all’Ecole Nationale de Musique di Bourges (Francia) dove ottiene, nel 2003, due Premiers Prix à l’unanimité in sassofono e musica da camera nella classe di Christophe Bois. Ammesso nel 2006 al Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse di Parigi (secondo sassofonista italiano nella storia di questa prestigiosa istituzione) ha frequentato i corsi di Gilles Tressos per la didattica del sassofono, Laszlo hadady per la musica da camera, Alexandros Markeas e Vincent le Quang e Patrick Moutal per l’improvvisazione e la musica indiana.

Ha ottenuto, all’interno del CNSMDP, il Master di secondo livello in didattica del sassofono e il Certificat d’aptitude à l’enseignement du saxophone nel 2010, il Premier Prix mention Trés bien di Improvisazione nella classe di Alexandros Markeas e Vincent Le Quang nel 2011, il Certificat mention trés bien à l’unanimité nella classe di musica indiana di Patrick Moutal.

Ha seguito inoltre i corsi di direzione d’orchestra di Daniele Carnevali, Claude Kaesmaecker et Jean-Marc Cochereau.

Vincitore di una decinadi concorsi nazionali ed internazionali, Antonino MOLLICA é regolarmente invitato in festivals quali  « Festiorgue » a St Jean de Luz, « i suoni delle Dolomiti » a Madonna di Campiglio, « la mélodie européenne » a Shanghai (Chine), « Encuentros Internationales de saxofon » a Cordoba (Argentina). Antonino si é esibito in diversi Paesi (Belgio, Olanda, Germania, Spagna, Malta, Italia, Cina, Argentina), ed in sale prestigiose quali l’Auditorium du Musée d’Orsay di Parigi, il Zénith de Paris, il teatro greco di Taormina o ancora la Cité de la Musique, la salle Pleyel  e la Philharmonie di Parigi.

Collabora regolarmente con  l’Orchestre de Paris, l’orchestre Philarmonique de Monte-Carlo, l’orchestre symphonique et lyrique de Nancy, la Symphonic Orchestra of Fullerton-California…  suonando sotto la direzione di Emmanuel Krivine, Thomas Hengelbrock, Andris Poga…

Antonino Mollica was born in Messina (Sicily), he obtained a Master’s in saxophone performance at the Messina “Arcangelo Corelli” National Music Conservatory where he also studied writing, counterpoint, composition and ethnomusicology.

Attracted by the internationally-renowned French School of Saxophone, he studied under Christophe Bois in Bourges, where in 2003 he was awarded two First Prizes for Saxophone and Chamber Music. In 2004 he also received two regional First Prizes, awarded unanimously in the same disciplines. After joining the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (Paris Higher National Conservatory of Music – CNSMDP) in 2006 (Antonino is only to the second Italian saxophonist to be admitted to this prestigious school since its inception), he studied under Gilles Tressos, Claude Delangle, Sylvain Malezieux and Lazlo Hadady. In June 2010, he obtained a Master’s in Saxophone Teaching together with the Certificat d’Aptitude de saxophone, France’s highest diploma for teaching in artistic disciplines.
He was recently awarded the Generative Improvisation Prize (with honours) from the CNSMDP class of Alexandros Markeas and Vincent Le Quang. Studying under Patrick Moutal within the Conservatory, he also gained Certificates A and B in Indian music, awarded with honours by unanimous vote.

Keen to broaden his musical horizons, he has undertaken a number of conducting courses, taught by musicians including Daniele Carnevali, Claude Kaesmaecker and Jean Marc Cochereau. He is also studying the traditional music of Southern Italy in collaboration with ethnomusicologist Sergio Bonanzinga at the University of Palermo. He is currently extending his knowledge of Soundpainting, a form of choreographic sign language used in structured improvisation and live composing, on which he is working with Vincent Le Quang and the American composer and saxophonist Walter Thompson (creator of Soundpainting).

Antonino Mollica has won a number of competitions in Italy (most recent being first prize at the Palermo Benedetto Albanese, April 2006) and in France (UFAM, May 2005). He has also performed at festivals including “Festiorgue” in St Jean de Luz, “I suoni delle Dolomiti” in Madonna di Campiglio (Italy), and “European melody” in Shanghai (China). His diverse experience in musical interpretation has led him to perform in a number of European countries including Belgium, Holland, Germany, Spain and Italy, as well as in Asia. He has played at renowned venues such as the Musée d’Orsay Auditorium, the Zénith Paris, the Greek Theatre in Taormina and the Cité de la Musique, where he is participating on the “Carnet de sons” (Sounds book) project at the site of the future home of the Paris Philharmonic.

Antonino Mollica has received support from the Ministry of Culture on several occasions, with patronage also from Société Générale (2004) and the Meyer Foundation (2009).

He is currently teaching saxophone at the “Artemuse” Departmental Conservatory in Marne la Vallée.
