Julianne Kirk Doyle joined the faculty of the Crane School of Music in 2006 and serves as Professor of Clarinet and Director of the Crane Youth Music Camp. Dr. Doyle is Co-Director of the Crane Clarinet Choir, Crane Clarinet Ensembles and Co-coordinates the acclaimed Potsdam Single Reed Summit.  Dr. Doyle has given master classes for the Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, Aria Summer Music Academy, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp as well as University of Michigan, University of North Carolina-Greensboro, Louisiana State University, University of Arkansas-Ft. Smith, Bowling Green State University, Oakland University, and Nazareth College. She has also performed and presented at numerous conferences including the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest, International Double Reed Society Conference, New York State School Music Association Conference, New York State Band Directors Association, Mid-America Center for Contemporary Music and the Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium.

An active soloist and chamber musician, she is a member of the Aria Reed Trio and the Eastman Triana, both ensembles have performed on WXXI Rochester’s Live at Hochstein radio broadcast. Dr. Doyle has two CD projects underway, one with the Aria Reed Trio and a recording of unrecorded works for solo clarinet and clarinet and piano, both projects are currently in editing stages. Dr. Doyle is also researching the Velopharyngeal Insufficiency (VPI/Soft Palatal Air Leak) in wind playing with plans to publish articles and methods of alleviation and prevention. She has assisted numerous professionals and students with minimizing and correcting soft palate problems.

She serves as Co-Principal Clarinet with the Orchestra of Northern New York,  Principal Clarinet of the Northern Symphonic Winds, and has also played with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, Amici Orchestra, Light Opera Oklahoma, Tulsa Philharmonic, Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Eastman Wind Ensemble including a tour to Japan, Taiwan and Macau, Eastman Philharmonia and Eastman Opera Orchestra, Tulsa Philharmonic and Oklahoma City Philharmonic.

Prior to joining the faculty at Crane, she held teaching positions at Ball State University, University of Rochester, Eastman School of Music, Eastman Community Music School, Hochstein School of Music and Nazareth College.

She holds the Doctorate of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Performance and Literature and Arts Leadership Certificate from the Eastman School of Music and a Bachelors of Music from the University of Oklahoma. Her primary teachers include Jon Manasse, David Etheridge and Bradford Behn.
