He also served as Acting Associate Principal Clarinet with the Sydney Symphony for the duration of the 2023 season.  Prior to his return to Australia, Alex was Assistant Principal Clarinet of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in Canada. He has also appeared as guest principal clarinet with many leading ensembles across the Asia-Pacific region, including the Sydney, Melbourne, and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonia, Opera Australia Orchestra, and Orchestra Victoria.

Many of his performances have been broadcast nationally on ABC Classic FM.

Alex is a passionate advocate for new music and has collaborated closely with composers both in Australia and internationally, premiering numerous works for clarinet and bass clarinet. Alongside his performance career, Alex is deeply committed to education and mentorship. He maintains a private teaching studio and serves as the clarinet mentor for the Sydney Symphony Fellowship program, supporting the next generation of professional musicians.
