Lim Sangwoo

One of Korea’s leading clarinetists, Sangwoo Lim is currently the Associate Principal Clarinetist of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he has held since 2007 when he was appointed by Maestro Myung Whun Chung shortly after completing his studies in Basel with Prof. Francois Benda. As a soloist, he has appeared with orchestras all over Korea including the Seoul Philharmonic, KBS Symphony Orchestra, and the Busan Philharmonic as well as with the Sofia Soloists in Europe.  He has given recitals and performed chamber music in the prestigious Seoul Arts Centre as well as in some of Germany’s most important musical venues including Hamburg, Stuttgart, Essen, Dortmund, Bielefeld and Detmold.  Sangwoo Lim has won the 1st prize in numerous competitions including the Donga Music Competition, Ewha Music Competition, and the KBS Young Musicians Competition.  Additionally, he was a winner of the Young Artists Audition of the KUMHO Asiana Cultural Foundation.  Sangwoo Lim is on the faculty of Seoul National University and is a proud Buffet Crampon and Vandoren artist.
