Luigi Pettrone has performed as guest Clarinetist at the Orchestra Filarmonica of Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Orchestra of the Teatro San Carlo of Naples since 1999, at the moment he’s the Principal Clarinet at the Orchestra of the Teatro Verdi of Salerno, under the direction of Daniel Oren, and clarinet teacher of the Conservatorio “G. Martucci” in Salerno.
He has worked with great conductors of the international music scene such as R. Muti, D. Oren, J.Valchua, Z.Meta, H. Haenchen, N. Santi, F. Luisi, R. Weikert, P. Berg, G. Khunn, A. Gulian, G. Ferro, J. Neschling, O. Caetani, J. Kovav, G. Phetchelvinian, D.Renzetti, J. Alexord, S.Ranzani, R. Trevino.
Awarded in more than 20 national and international competitions including the “A. Ponchielli” Competition in Cremona, receiving the prize from the Chamber of Commerce of Cremona.
He completed his musical studies at the Conservatory of Music “N. Sala” of Benevento, then he graduated with honors and honorable mention at the Conservatory of Music “L. Perosi” of Campobasso.
In Paris he studied with the M°Alain Damiens and in Italy he has participated in numerous exclusive Masterclasses with greats teachers including Calogero Palermo and Walter Seyfart. He specialized at the Academy of High Musical Specialization “Mythos” at Villa Salina in Bologna, in collaboration with the “A. foundation Toscanini” in Parma, attending the two-year Orchestra Professors course held by Alessandro Carbonare and Corrado Giuffredi.
He won numerous auditions and in 2012 he was among the first three eligible to audition at the Orchestra of the San Carlo Theater Foundation in Naples. In 2017 Maestro Daniel Oren prefers him as first principal clarinet of the Verdi Theater Orchestra of Salerno.
As a soloist he has performed the concertos of Stamitz, Mozart, Rossini, Weber and Spohr several times, with important orchestras such as “Symphony Orchestra of National State TV of the Republic of Belarus”, Romatreorchestra, “Arad” Orchestra of Romania. He played in “Vatican City” for the Beatification of Padre Pio in the presence of Pope Wojtyla and he also recorded for Vatican Radio, the “Rhapsody in Blue” by G. Gershwin”, broadcast on the radio as part of the “I Conservatories in Concert”.
He performed in important festivals and concerts, performing with great musicians such as P. Domingo, A. Netrebko, S. Hauser, V. Grigolo, J. Kaufmann, M. Agresta, M. Devia, L. Nucci, R. Feola, R. Kussmaul, L. Signorini, G. Sollima, M. Dragoni, L.Bacalov, I.Veneziano, E. Paulova, A. Meunier, R. De Simone, E. Bosso, A.Dindo, A. Tifu and with some first parts of the most important Italian orchestras.
He was invited by Maestro Ezio Bosso to record at the Teatro G. Verdi in Busseto with Europe Philharmonic Orchestra a special on Beethoven called “ What History is Music ” for Rai 3 broadcast.
He is the author of the book “La Tecnica del Concertista”, a method for students of high school courses clarinet, published by Esarmonia editore, nationally distributed by “Ares” of Verona (appreciated and signed by Maestro Riccardo Muti) and the anthology “Il Clarinetto e l’Orchestra”, published by Diarmonia edition.
In 2012 he became an artist of the Swiss Agency “Suavis Artist” performing both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles in numerous Swiss festivals (Lugano, Mendrisio, Zurich, Geneva) always receiving wide acclaim from critics and the public. In 2013 with the Theater Orchestra San Carlo di Napoli participated in the tour at the Royal Opera House in Muscat in Oman (Arab Emirates), for the “Verdi Celebration” concert.
