Ismael Sánchez received his Bachelor’s Degree in Clarinet from Mexico City’s High School of Music and in Saxophone from that city’s “Vida y Movimiento” School. He later earned a Postgraduate performance course from the Royal Academy of Music in London, England as well as a Diploma from the Pierre Monteux School in Maine (U.S.A.). Among his main teachers have been Daniel Lozano, José Guadalupe Cadena, Michael Collins, Richard Addison, and Angela Malsbury.
He has won several important awards and distinctions within Mexico, the most outstanding of which have been the National Youth Prize in the Arts division, and the National Fine Arts Institute’s Soloist Competition.
The National Fund for Culture and the Arts, the Public Education Ministry, and the National Fine Arts Institute have awarded him grants to continue his studies outside of Mexico.
As a soloist and tutti instrumentalist he has performed with Mexico’s leading orchestras and conductors. In international festivals he has worked with Michael Jimbo, Ricardo Muti, Colin Davis, and Yuri Inanovich Siminov.
He has participated with diverse ensembles in the U.S., Japan, Spain, Portugal, the Domincan Republic, Ecuador, Venezuela, and England.
In the teaching field, he is an active participant in the National Program of Youth Symphonic Bands, as well as in the projects initiated by the National System of Youth Choruses and Orchestras, a division of the National System of Musical Promotion.
His versatility has allowed him to record and participate in diverse musical ambiences such as jazz, pop music, classical, folkloric, contemporary music, and musical comedies.
Currently he is a Professor of Clarinet and Chamber Music at Escuela Superior de Música in Mexco City; he is also the Director of that same institution’s Symphonic Band.

 

 

Realizó sus estudios de Licenciatura en Clarinete en la Escuela Superior de Música del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y la licenciatura en saxofón en la “Escuela Vida y Movimiento” del Centro Cultural Ollin Yoliztli, Posgrado en ejecución e interpretacion en Royal Academy of Music en Londres, Inglaterra y de Dirección de Orquesta en Pierre Monteux School en Maine, Estados Unidos. Entre sus maestros se pueden mencionar a Daniel Lozano, José Guadalupe Cadena, Michael Collins, Richard Addison y Angela Malsbury.
Ha sido ganador de importantes premios a nivel Nacional, entre ellos destacan el Premio Nacional de la Juventud en el área de Artes y el Concurso de Solistas del INBA.
El Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes, la Secretaría de Educación Pública y el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes le otorgaron diversas becas para la continuación de sus estudios en el extranjero.
Como solista y músico de filatutti ha participado con los directores y Orquestas más destacadas a nivel Nacional. En Festivales Internacionales ha trabajado bajo la batuta de Michael Jimbo, Ricardo Mutti, Collin Davis y Yuri Ivanovich Siminov.
Se ha presentado con diversos ensambles en Estados Unidos, Japón, España, Portugal, República Dominicana, Ecuador, Venezuela e Inglaterra.
En el campo de la pedagogía participa activamente en el Programa Nacional de Bandas Sinfónicas Infantiles y Juveniles así como en los proyectos de Coros y Orquestas Juveniles del Sistema Nacional de Fomento Musical de México.
Su versatilidad en el campo musical le ha permitido grabar y participar en proyectos de jazz, pop, clásico, folklor, música contemporánea y musicales
Actualmente es profesor de Clarinete, Música de Cámara y Director de la Banda Sinfónica de la Escuela Superior de Música del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes en la Ciudad de México.
