Noa Even is a Cleveland-based saxophonist dedicated to sparking deeper interest in the arts of today through the performance of contemporary music. As a member of the saxophone duo Ogni Suono, Noa has appeared on concert series such as Outpost (University of California-Riverside), Switchboard Presents (San Francisco), SONICT (University of Wisconsin-Whitewater), Take 4 (University of Windsor), and ADJ-ective (Toledo). The duo’s international performances include the inaugural Singapore Saxophone Symposium, Romanian-American Musical Days Festival in Sibiu (Romania), Berlin University of the Arts, Felicja Blumental Music Center in Tel Aviv, Night of the Museums Festival in Budapest, Songkhla Rajabhat University (Thailand), and World Saxophone Congresses in Scotland and France. Their album,Invisible Seams, features some of the Ogni Suono’s first collaborations. Supported by a grant from New Music USA in 2015, they launched SaxoVoce, a long-term project exploring the wide-ranging ways of synthesizing saxophone and voice.
Noa’s saxophone and drum set duo, Patchwork, collaborates with composers to build an eclectic body of new music. Recent events include the Warner Concert Series at Kenyon College, Frequency Series at Constellation in Chicago, Omaha Under the Radar, and additional shows in Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, and Bowling Green (OH). Patchwork has performed, given master classes, and worked with student composers on many college campuses, such as Washington University, College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, Peabody Conservatory, and Ball State University.
Noa won 3rd place at the Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition in 2011 where she performed as a soloist with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2013, she soloed with the BG Philharmonia as winner of Bowling Green State University’s Concerto Competition. Noa placed in the 2009 MTNA Young Artist and Chamber Music Competitions in the woodwind category.
As a guest lecturer and clinician, Noa has presented numerous master classes and clinics at schools across the country and abroad, including Israel Conservatory, Rajabhat University (Thailand), Wichita State University, Shenandoah Conservatory (MD), University of Houston, Penn State University, Shaker Heights High School (OH), School of Arts and Enterprise (Pomona, CA), and Sun Prairie High School (WI).
Noa is Assistant Professor of Saxophone at Kent State University. She holds a DMA in contemporary music from Bowling Green State University, a master’s degree in performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a bachelor’s in performance and music education from Northwestern University. Additional studies include the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Boulogne-Billancourt near Paris, where she studied with Jean-Michel Goury. Her other primary instructors were John Sampen, Debra Richtmeyer, and Fred Hemke.
