Hudson Ribeiro

A clarinetist with the UFBA Symphony Orchestra and a PhD at the same institution, Hudson began his musical studies at the age of 8 at the headquarters of the Sociedade de Cultura e Música 1º de Novembro in his hometown, Timbaúba Pernambuco.

He holds a Master’s degree in Chamber Music from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. He completed part of his bachelor’s degree in Clarinet at the Hochschule Für Musik in Karlsruhe, Germany, under the guidance of the renowned Wofgang Meyer, through the UNIBRAL program – University Partnerships between Brazil and Germany – CAPES/DAAD, with Capes as the funding institution.

He completed his degree at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte under the guidance of Amandy Bandeira, where he obtained the title of laureate student at both institutions. He participated in several advanced training courses in Brazil, Paraguay, Germany, the United States, Canada, France and Portugal. He was a temporary professor of Clarinet and Chamber Music at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte in 2015 and 2016 and in the program “PRONATEC – Band Musician” from 2014 to 2017.

He won several national and international competitions: July 2011, International Competition for Young Soloists 1st prize unanimously at the “Festival Eleazar de Carvalho” Fortaleza-CE, Brazil. November 2011, Winners’ Competition 1st prize unanimously at the “Semana Eleazar de Carvalho” São Paulo-SP, Brazil. October 2014, Young Soloists Competition of the UFRN Symphony Orchestra, 1st prize Natal-RN, Brazil among other.

He was a soloist with the Orchestra of the Hochschule Fur Musik Karlsruhe, the Symphony Orchestra of UFRN, the Symphony Orchestra of the Eleazar de Carvalho Festival, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the State of São Paulo, the Symphonic Band of UFRN, the Symphony Orchestra of UFBA, among others. Hudson Ribeiro is regularly invited to teach and collaborate in important festivals in Brazil and abroad, such as the 1st and 2nd Meeting of Clarinetists of Paraíba, the 1st and 2nd Meeting of Clarinetists in Natal-RN, the 2nd International Meeting of Clarinetists in Belém-PA, ClarinetFest 2017/2018, the 1st Meeting of Clarinetists of Pernambuco 2019, coordinated the 1st International Festival of Clarinetists of Bahia in 2020, which took place online, was coordinator/organizer of the 5th colloquium of clarinetists of UFBA 2021 and organizer of the 13th Meeting of Brazilian Clarinetists in Recife/2022, II Ibero-American Symposium of Bajo Clarinet 2024 and VIII International Festival of Clarinetists in Rio de Janeiro 2024. He is currently an artist for Vandoren and the Royal Global Clarinet brand.
