Clarinetist Andy Shuqing Lyu has been acclaimed as one of the leading artist from China. A prizewinner of multiple international competitions, he is the first ever woodwind Ph.D. awarded in China. Currently, Shuqing serves as the principal clarinet of Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra, becoming the youngest clarinet principal in China.

Shuqing has demonstrated his incredible artistry in instrumental playing and artistic initiatives. As a soloist, Lyu has close collaboration with prestigious orchestras in China, and he initiates Buttonwood Woodwind Quintet with Zeng Yun, the principle horn of Berlin Philharmonic. He is also a co-founder of QingXin Ensemble, one of the pioneering ensemble of China. In 2024, he was invited to present a solo recital in the International Clarinet Association (ICA) hosted in Dublin, featuring a series of Chinese contemporary works.

As a contemporary advocate, his recent appearance in Korea (51st PAN Festival) and Vienna (China-EU Tour) has been brought to global attention. Since 2018, he has successfully commissioned and premiered a few contemporary works, and such as composer Wen Ziyang’s commissioned work, which has been published by renowned publisher Universal Edition (UE). Since 2024, Shuqing became an F. Arthur Uebel artist.
