Couderc Frédéric

(France)

After some early studies in La Teste de Buch and at the Bordeaux conservatory, Frederic Couderc enters the Jazz course of Francois Jeanneau at main National superior conservatory of Paris.
Fred who is always looking for new sounds and tones is a multi-instrumentalist who is not only playing any kind of saxophones but also the flutes, clarinets, the taragot, the English Horn or even the Ewi. Some of them like the soprano in C or mezzo-soprano saxophones are very hard to find and rarely used. Hervé Martin, famous craftsman of the saxophone has built for Frederic the ‘ Coudophone ‘ which is a straight C-melody, a unique instrument that Frederic played on his own 2007 ‘ Kirkophonie’ record , a vibrant tribute to Roland Kirk. In this recording Frederic Couderc plays 2 or 3 saxophones at the same time.
2011 is the year of the release of ‘Coudophonie’, another of Frederic’s project with the legendary French drummer André Céccarelli. A great work and research of blending sounds and textures.
In 2015  the legacy of Mr Adolphe Sax is presented in a DVD including performance and historical presentation of the work of the most important man in the history of saxophone.
