Dmitry Ostrovsky started studying clarinet in 1999. His teachers were Yuri Babiy, Vladimir Ferapontov and Evgeniy Petrov. In 2010 he graduated from Moscow conservatory and in 2013 finished post-graduate course. During the period of studying in Moscow conservatory, as well as post-graduate, his teacher was professor Evgeny Petrov.

Dmitry is a diplomant of Moscow conservatory international woodwind competition (2011) (Also got a special prize of Vladimir Sokolov clarinet club and a special prize “for artistry”); a laureate of international Tunbrige Wells competition(2012); a semifinalist of Gent international clarinet competition(2013).

He worked in such orchestras as Moscow Philarmonic Orchestra (Conductor Yury Simonov) Russian State Symphony Chapel (Conductor Valery Polyansky) and was frequently invited to other prominent orchestras of Russia as a session musician. Collaborated with such musicians as Vladimir Ashkenazi, Mikhail Pletnev, Teodor Kurentsis, Alexey Lundin and others. In a period from May 2014 to May 2019 Dmitry worked as a principal clarinet in Moscow chamber orchestra and was an assistant of his former teacher, professor Evgeny Petrov, at The State Classical Academy named in honour of Maimonid. In May and June 2019 Dmitry was a guest musician in The Israel Camerata Jerusalem, and in July, having won a competition, started serving in The Israel Sinfonietta Be’er-Sheva as a principal clarinet.

Since August 2021 Dmitry has taken up a position of assistant principal clarinet at Mariinsky theatre, Primorsky stage.

He frequently gives concerts, not only as an orchestra musician, but also as a soloist, where he plays both chamber and solo works including Mozart, Nilsen and Francaix clarinet concertos. He also has recordings on CD’s.
